How to Qualify as a Coast Guard
To qualify as a Pakistan Coast Guard, you must:
-Be a Pakistani citizen
-Be between the ages of 18 and 30
-Have completed your Intermediate or equivalent education
-Have no criminal record
-Be physically and mentally fit
-Be of good moral character
After meeting these basic requirements, you will need to pass an entry test and an interview. The entry test is designed to assess your knowledge of English, math, and general science. If you are successful in the entry test and interview, you will be asked to undergo a medical examination. Once you have passed all of these stages, you will be inducted into the Pakistan Coast Guard.

What are the roles and responsibilities of the Pakistan Coast Guard?
The primary roles and responsibilities of the Pakistan Coast Guard include:
- safeguard Pakistani territorial waters against illegal incursions;
- carry out surveillance to detect and intercept smugglers, drug traffickers and other criminal elements;
- protect off-shore oil and gas installations;
- provide assistance to fishermen and other seafarers in distress;
- engage in search and rescue operations;
- participate in anti-piracy operations;
- contribute to maritime security operations in support of naval forces;
- undertake coastal security tasks assigned by the Government.
The Coast Guards' Mission
The Pakistan Coast Guards are responsible for the safety and security of Pakistan's 8,000-kilometre coastline, which includes the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). The Coast Guards patrol Pakistan's territorial waters, including the Karachi Port area, to ensure the safety of shipping and to prevent illegal activities such as smuggling and piracy. The Coast Guards also cooperate with the Pakistani Navy to protect offshore oil and gas installations from terrorist attacks.
In addition to their law enforcement duties, the Coast Guards provide essential services such as search and rescue, maritime safety surveillance, environmental protection, and humanitarian assistance. The Coast Guards have a fleet of over 50 vessels, including fast patrol boats, offshore patrol vessels, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft.
